  • The ICPF certification program consists of a series of thirteen lecture, hands-on, and on-line classes. The fifty plus hours of instruction cover the basic areas of professional floristry. Subjects covered include Basic Design Techniques, Daily Business Procedures, Employee Relations, Sympathy Design Basics, and Principles & Elements of Design.

    The course is for the beginning florist or a more experienced designer looking to improve their skills.

    Students may choose to take a single class, several classes or the whole series. At the completion of each class there is an assessment or skills check list. After successful completion of all thirteen classes, the student will become thru the Illinois State Florists' Association and granted the ICPF credential.

    To enroll in ISFA certification classes you must be a member of ISFA or employed by a member.

    The first step to becoming certified is to provide your name, address, e-mail and pay the one time registration fee of $50. After you register, you will be contacted by the program coordinator with your password so you can choose your ICPF on-line class. CLICK TO REGISTER

    In today’s 24 hour, self-service society, few customer oriented personalized services remain. Delivery is a service that is almost extinct in retailing and is the one commodity the floral industry has to keep customers coming to our shops.

    Merchandising is anything that you do to develop your business and move your product. The course will show you how to prepare a merchandising calendar, explain productive use of space, design, lighting, signage and much more.

    In today’s advertising market the consumer is over exposed to commercial messages. You must get noticed. This course will provide you tools for success.

    Everyday Basic Designs—The foundation of floral design. Experience practical basic floral mechanics and techniques using the Principles & Elements of Design to create basic every day designs. 

    2:30 PM - 6:30 PM

    Floral Design Techniques & ApplicationsIdentify design techniques and their practical application to professional floral design. 

    January 26, 2019

    8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

    Wedding Design Techniques—Gain practical experience as you create basic wedding bouquets. Techniques include wiring and taping, use of foam bouquet holders and personal flowers.

     

    1:30 PM - 6:00 PM 

    Sympathy Design Basics—Experience hands-on how to’s for creating casket sprays, easel sprays and traditional mache designs.

    Refund/Cancellation Policies
     
    The Illinois State Florists’ Association (ISFA) reserves the right to cancel an event (or partial event) due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable.
    If ISFA cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.
    Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, ISFA has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

    Transfer Policy: ISFA members may transfer the financial value of their registration to a co-worker  for no charge if written notification (to skpisfatreas@yahoo.com) is given 30 business days before the event – unless specifically stated on registration materials. After that point, the transfer service fee is $25. Companies who are not members of ISFA can transfer their registration at any point for a $25 service fee.

    Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be given; please plan accordingly.
